I’ve been working with children since I was a teenager, volunteering at residential summer camps. Later on, I became a senior leader and was responsible (alongside a small team) for about 80 children for a week.

But I didn’t initially plan to teach. Having initially studied politics (First Class Honours), I did a post-grad in Law, then spent some time working in New York and London.

Eventually, the call of the classroom became too loud to ignore. I enrolled at UCL Institute of Education (the #1 rated provider of teacher training worldwide) and attained Qualified Teacher Status with ‘Outstanding’ grading. I started to work in inner-city London schools.

A few years later, the first lockdown hit. I spotted a need: children were really struggling with online learning, and so I started providing pro bono tuition over Zoom.

I found I was really good at it: parents said that their children ‘made great progress in their studies’ and ‘really blossomed’. I loved seeing their confidence grow alongside their attainment. As lockdown lifted, I was able to start offering in-person tuition.

And so my business grew. The key combination – rigour with nurture – remained at the core of how I do things, and has stood my pupils in excellent stead as they embark on the often challenging journey into their secondary education. It’s why they routinely get into their first-choice schools.
